Postural Balance Training & Yoga
Postural Balance Training
Having good posture not only helps you minimize chronic joint and muscle pain, but it also helps you maintain your balance and improves your body’s performance.

Due to improper posture, a person expends more energy (which causes fatigue) used to maintain their balance when they walk, stand, or climb.

For example, if you hunch a lot in your upper back and shoulders, you will have a tendency to lean forward when your stand and walk. To prevent falling, your lower back has to activate to counter-balance the weight-shift of the forward lean. The excessive work will eventually cause chronic back and hip pain.
With good posture and proper alignment, body weight is distributed equally throughout your body when you stand, walk, and perform other movements.

Postural balance training sessions are designed to be one on one session to help you outline weakness in your posture. A specific ‘tailor made’ exercise regime is then designed to address these faults and therefore help improve your equilibrium.
Yoga
Yoga attempts to balance mind and body by following a sequence of physical exercises, or "asanas", controlled breathing, and the calming of the mind through relaxation. Asanas help you to improve posture, balance, suppleness & strength. Regular practice of Vinyasa yoga flow provides an excellent cardio vascular work out, Yoga is suitable for all. The pace of practice is controlled by the individual and there are many variations of each posture so that everyone will physically benefit from attending the class.

After years of practicing yoga ourselves, we at Glen Iris Chiropractic are finally introducing yoga sessions at the clinic. Ashtanga Vinyasa is one of the best forms of yoga to strengthen your muscles and core strength. It is specially suited to those who like a strenuous work out and is more about pushing your personal limits but relaxing at the same time. Further timings about sessions will be announced soon.
